They were lost. They were so terribly, horribly lost. Not that Afonso was going to admit that out loud. No way in hell was he going to admit that out loud. Antonio would just end up shoving it in his face! And he really did not feel in the mood for that. Though he probably would have to tell the Spanish man soon, it would be getting dark soon, and he was pretty sure they had been walking in circles.
This was the last time he bought a compass off a vendor in China.
Shifting uneasily, he glanced at the map, before back at the captain. It probably hadn’t been smart for just the two of them to go off. But no one else had seemed interested in looking for treasure when the captain had showed them the new map. And well, Afonso wasn’t going to let him go off on his own. And he was pretty sure that Antonio would have had the Portuguese man not offered to accompany him.
“Are you sure this map isn’t counterfeit or something?” He frowned at it again, before looking around. He had to be reading it wrong… But none of the actual markings looked like the surroundings. Maybe it was just that old… “Where did you get this thing from again?”

"Of course the map isn't counterfeit! What about your compass?" Antonio replied, unfurling the map again to study it. It had been a gift from a Turkish merchant, one he had thought he cut a pretty good deal on. Then again, Antonio had never been the best at bartering, but..well, hey, his navigator didn't have to know that. Although really, he assumed that he already knew. It was so weird, Afonso seemed to know just about everything about him--his habits, his siesta times--without passing the line of creepy. It was like they were related.
He sighed good naturedly and shucked off his heavy coat, hanging it over his arm, and for once, was very glad he didn't have Cortés handy. "Well, we'll figure it out somehow...we can do it~"

"My compass is perfectly fine!" He bristled, shooting Antonio an annoyed glare. But there was no real anger behind his words. More like the irritation one would feel for a younger sibling. And he had to do everything in his power to resist the urge to cuff the Spaniard over the head when the captain stuck his tongue out. Honestly it really did feel like the captain was his younger brother! And it really didn't help how well the two seemed to know one another so well...
"If anything, the maps out of date." He responded, taking the unfurled map from Antonio, glancing around again. "According to this map there's suppose to be a river right here..."
But there was no river in sight. And he knew he was reading the map right. He turned back to look at the captain with a sigh, taking a small step back. "Anyways, we should tr-"
Whatever Afonso was to say was cut off, replaced instead by a small (manly) scream as the ground gave way where he stepped. Afonso flailed his arms out, dropping both the map and the compass before tumbling downward. The next thing that was heard was a loud splash, followed by the Portuguese mans sputters as he resurface.
... Well... He had found the river.

The river wasn't rushing particularly fast, and Afonso had always been a good swimmer--this--this was priceless. The soaked Portuguese stood up and stared at Antonio, mouth flapped open, who stared back.
There was a moment of blissful silence between them, captain and navigator, before Antonio snorted...and burst into hysterical laughter, holding his sides and doubling over. "Hee hee--ahahahah! You look like a wet dog! Hahahahahahah!"

Pushing damp bangs out of his eyes, Afonso shot Antonio the nasty glare he could muster. The other laughing really didn't help either. In fact, it only made him want to...
A small conniving smile played across his lips, before he hid it away behind a frustrated frown.
"Shut up and give me a hand out." He extended his hand out to the captain, waiting patiently until Antonio leaned forward. And then, Afonso jumped, grabbing the other by the wrist and yanking him into the river.

One minute Antonio was laughing, the next, his world was being shoved forward. The Spaniard barely had time to react, letting loose a startled yelp as he fell into the water, heavy pirate clothes and all, flailing madly as face hit ice cold water.
Sputtering, he sat up, wiping his damp bangs out of his eyes and looking up at Afonso, before grinning, grabbing his ankle, and yanking him back down into the water.

Releasing a small yelp he flailed his arms out, falling back into the water. Sitting up, he could feel wet hair plaster itself to his face, his ponytail falling free. And he bit the inside of his cheek to keep himself from laughing. Instead he just glared at Antonio, though it was more of a playful one.
"Idiota." He stated quite simply, splashing the other.

"Gah!" Just as the Spaniard started to dry off his face, wiping it the best he could with the sopping wet ruffles in the front of his shirt, he was splashed again by his grinning navigator. Antonio squawked like a bird, and glared back; even so, he could barely keep the grin from spreading on his face. "Tonto~" he sang, before splashing him again.

Oh. Oh. It was on.
Afonso was splashing Antonio back, not caring how childish it would look to anyone else. And soon his sides hurt from laughing so much, but he didn't care. He wasn't going to let the Spaniard beat him!
When he had been younger, he remembered watching the other children play in one of the rivers near by. And he would always watch siblings splash one another. He couldn't help but often wonder what it would be like to have a brother to play with as a child.
He really didn't have to wonder anymore.

Antonio laughed openly as he splashed his navigator back, trying his best to hit him in the face.However, he was at a bit of a disadvantage; his clothes were heavy, especially compared to Afonso's. Laughing, the Spaniard waved his hands around and called, "Ahhaha! Hermano, hermano! I give up! I'm gonna get knocked over! Haha~"

The fact the the captain had called him 'hermano' did not register at all in his mind. The navigator was too busy laughing, sending another wave of water at Antonio. Though he couldn't tell if he had nailed the other in the face or not. He grinned still, pushing sopping wet bangs out of his eyes. He debated for a minute, before giving a small chuckle. "Fine, fine irmao. But only if you admit I won."

Antonio nodded, wiping some of the water dripping in his eyes. The Spaniard looked down, almost sheepish, and mumbled, "Fine..."
As Afonso approached him, however, there was a glint in his eye. Antonio leapt up and yelled, "Spanish inquisition!" then tackled his navigator onto the shore, tickling him.

If there was one thing Afonso tried to keep secret, it was the sheer fact he was incredibly ticklish. He tried his hardest to keep down his laughter, but he could only hold the laughter in for long. And within seconds he was trying his hardest to get away, managing to choke out a few breathless 'stop's.

Antonio cackled and continued tickling him, pleased to have found an advantage as they thrashed around in the water. It was strange to seem that he knew exactly where the other was ticklish; almost like they'd had stupid fights like this before. "Come ooon~! Give up the the Spanish might! Iberian union!"

"No, no way!" He managed to choke out before laughter overtook him again. And Afonoso tried to get away, protecting the tickling spots from Antonio the best as he could. He tripped over his own feet though, crashing back into the water. Coughing he resurfaced, shooting the captain a slightly irritated, but more so amused, look, his cheeks flushed from laughing too much. "Tr-Truce?"
