Baldur's breath escaped his body in short bursts. His chest heaving up and down as his body tried to make it smaller then it actually was so he could hide behind the barrel in the back of an alley. His dirtied hands covered his mouth to keep any noise he would make from coming out.
Despite the rest of the street noise Baldur was able to hear the heavy boot falls of his captors as they drew closer to the entrance of the alley. He did his best to make himself blend in and prayed to Odin and any other gods he could think of also. He continued to hide until he heard the boots disappear he slowly made his way out of the alleyway. Only to be grabbed by his collar. And despite the punishment he might receive he screamed.

Maybe it was an elitist thing to think, but Nils was definitely used to more upscale places than this one. Little had happened so far that made him think the pirate life was any more glamorous than he had originally believed. But it wasn't without its intriguing moments. For instance, a white haired boy being chased by much larger men. Wait... that was funny, he had met that white haired teenager before. But, it wasn't like any other acquaintance. He could feel his connection with the other. Now that was worth investigating.
Nils had followed the pursuers into an alley, but he was moments behind them. Enough that he saw the person of interest leave their hiding place. Wasting no time, he unceremoniously grabbed the other one up by his collar, only to be met with a scream. He didn't even blink, his features stayed neutral. “Quiet. They'll hear you. Now tell me, softly, who are you?”

Baldur covered his mouth when the voice he heard was monotone and didn't have any snide remark or anger within it. He looked up at who was holding him and couldn't help but just end up staring. The man that had him had bored looking blue eyes and light blond hair. Along with a Scandinavian Cross clip that pulled his haired back. An odd sensation pulled at his stomach before his mouth finally moved.
"D-do I know you?" he asked, it would be very odd if he did but it was just the feeling that he had with this man. But of course the man had asked him who he was. "I-I'm B-Baldur."

The boy asked the question that laid the heaviest on Nils' mind. Did they know each other? His accent wasn't Norwegian, more like Icelandic. He hadn't had the chance to speak with many people from there. But still... when he looked at this Baldur, he felt he was looking at someone dear to him. It was as if the longer he stared at him, the more sure he was that he had never met him before but that he knew who he was at the same time.
”Yes.. I think you do. Don't ask because I don't know when and where. I'm Nils. Now why are those guys chasing you?” he asked, hoping that would give him some clue. Nils had never been a fan of riddles, but he couldn't ignore this. If fate wanted to tug at him again, he'd see it through.

"I-I ran away from those men because, they were trying to sell me." Was Baldur's reply to the other, he didn't know why the other said that he did know him. Because he can't remember where they would have met. The other had a Norwegian accent which he heard a lot back home. Where ever home was. He shifted from foot to foot wishing that he could just run and hide some how.
"N-now may I please go?" He asked fidgeting a bit more and he kept looking around. Wondering if there was any more men that was coming after him. He just, wanted to run. Stow away on a ship and hope to return to the land of his birth. Now he just had to get away from Nils.

Sell him? “They were slavers? Hmm,” Nils continued speaking casually despite his inner mix of confusion and contempt. This was a strange circumstance. He had heard of encounters with such people from other sailors, but he had never handled such a case himself. It was unsettling. Thinking about what they would use the teenager for didn't help. He felt a strange righteous fury at the concept but it wasn't from the circumstance as much as the target. Nils wanted to protect Baldur.
Nils took a deep breath in. “Where will you go?” He loosened his grip by the smallest of margins. “You may not go until you tell me that.” His voice was firm. He didn't let mysteries just disappear. Nor could he just let the other run off and get himself captured again. He should have been able to, but he couldn't.

Baldur opened his mouth to answer, but that was the question. Where would he go? He wants to say home. But where was that? The place where he was born? He remembered it was cold where he was. So it had to be up further then this place known as Australia. He continued to ponder the answer in which he was going to give Nils. But would the other accept that answer?
"I'm planning on going home." Baldur finally said to Nils as he looked at the others hand on his arm. He wondered why the other hadn't let him go. The Slavers had left, for now, and Baldur was sure to find his way home. He probably could even stow away on a ship nearby.

“Home huh?” He replied as he thought that over. Nils didn't have much right to make Baldur stay with him for any length of time. And why did he want him too? Because the teenager made him feel weird? That was an awkward reason. But the boy was being looked for by Slavers. For whatever reason, he couldn't let Baldur being abducted again. He didn't know why and he stopped looking for an answer.
“I had a brother about your age... I haven't seen him in a while.” He didn't care if Baldur asked for his life story. Nils felt the need to defend what he was about to say. “I'll walk you home. Do you live far?” Nils still didn't believe the boy looked like the type who would be born in this area, but he hadn't asked that question.

"A brother?" Baldur said pondering the information for a moment. Did he have a brother? He knew there was someone important in his life but he couldn't remember who. Still the more he stayed with Nils the more he felt like he was already home. And when the other stated that he would walk him home and how far he lived. Well it got Baldur to look at him funny. Did he really look like someone who was born around this area? Because Baldur knew that his home wasn't here no. It was far north for he remembered the cold.
"I don't think, it'll be possible to walk to my home." Baldur said looking around the hot Australian town. No, this wasn't home defiantly not home. "My home...is far north if I can recall. Somewhere cold."
He closed his eyes to remember the feeling of home. Salty water. Cool and crisp. Something you would like during the summer. But, not all the waters where cold. Some where hot and relaxing and their water was a true blue color almost...unnatural. Small horses and forests. Big open spaces and tall mountains. Some active with heat that made the earth shake. Baldur opened his eyes. His home was far north....near Europe.
"It has to be near Europe." he muttered because even though people spoke English here it wasn't his English which he even knew was his second language.

Ah yes. Europe was a good deal farther than he was willing to walk as well. Not to mention all the water. But then what should he do with Baldur? Should he let him go? This was none of his business. Parting ways would be totally acceptable. If anyone judged him for it, he wouldn't be phased. He had saved the boy once and he didn't owe anyone anything more.
But why put up all the effort he had already used if he wasn't going to go through with it? It would have been foolish to let this get as far as it had gotten if he hadn't had the desire to see it through.
“I work on a ship. An air ship, actually. I don't know when we'll be in Europe next, but you aren't even sure that's where you're from. I'm not promising we'll find it, but it's safer than here. Just come with me.” If the captain didn't like it, too bad. He'd make it work and figure out why he was willing to do that on the way.

"W-with you? Are you sure?" Baldur said blinking in surprise. After all no body in there right mind would actually ask him if he could go with him. Actually. It wasn't that. Maybe it was a trick. Maybe Nils just wanted him on the ship to do slave work or something of the sort.
"I-I don't know, I-I can find work on a ship really." he muttered taking a few steps back. He didn't want to be captured. He didn't want to be caged. He just wanted to go home. He braced himself to get ready to run in case Nils was going to harm him.
