Personality: For only being twelve years old, Mackenzie possesses an amazing amount of maturity for her age. She's the voice of reason when things turn for the worse. She has an ability to keep her head in a situation. Not that being mature for her age keeps her from having fun. In fact, Mackenzie loves nothing more than having a good time. The twelve year old loves looking for adventures. Freedom is one of the most important things in Mackenzie's life.
Another thing that is extremely important to Mackenzie is art. In fact, she's a prodigy artist. Her hands were born to hold a paintbrush. She's a creative soul and if anything were ever to happen to her hands, Mackenzie isn't sure what she would do. Creating art is one of the biggest joys that she knows of.
Mackenzie is a mouthy child. She enjoys talking and is known for being verbose when she wants to be. Although Mackenzie isn't always the kindest of people. She can be quite sarcastic. She has the appearance of a tough little girl, but in reality she's a softy. Her bark is worse than her bite.
Also, Mackenzie is fond of rabbits.
History: Mackenzie's earliest memories are of her struggling for survival on the streets of rural, outback Australia. Most kids grow up knowing the loving care of a mother and a father. Instead, Mackenzie grew up with bullies and thieves as her caretakers. Her closest friend was a stuffed white bunny (albeit a very dirty one) she found while digging in the trash. She named the bunny Kiara. And to this day, Mackenzie keeps it close to her.
At the age of five, while wandering the streets she saw a street artist sketching a picture. It was the most amazing thing she had ever seen in her short five years of life. The ability to take a blank canvas and turn it into something beautiful... it moved the young five year old. The artist, a kind old man, took note of his young observer and beckoned her to come to him. Warily Mackenzie approached him and he began giving her a lesson.
Mackenzie took to drawing like a fish takes on swimming. She was a complete natural. Every day the old man would return to that same spot and gave her lessons. And Mackenzie flourished under his teaching. That is, until one day the old man stopped coming. The five year old never figured out what happened to the artist. But that's what was life on the streets for you- people came and they went. That didn't mean the old man had instilled something important in Mackenzie. She loved art and she would never stop drawing.
Shortly after the old man's disappearance, another influential figure entered Mackenzie's life. She was drawing- an elaborate, complex picture on the ground. It was nothing new. When Mackenzie wasn't stealing for food and trying to survive, she was indulging in her artwork. The girl had just finished when suddenly she heard clapping. An eleven year old boy had been watching her this whole entire time. The moment their eyes locked, Mackenzie knew they were destined to be together. It was unexplainable, but she was drawn to him. And he was drawn to her.
The boy's name was James and together the two entered themselves in a partnership for the next four years. They adopted each other as siblings. He was her big brother and she was his little sister. Together they conned the people of their city for food and items of survival. She played the helpless victim and he was the clever pickpocket. They went on countless adventures. It was a good life. A hard life, but at least they had each other.
Until James was stupid enough to get himself thrown into jail. Mackenzie had told him not to do it- that it was too risky. But he didn't listen. So, they were parted for who knows how long. Mackenzie should have tried harder to get him out, but she figured she would let him rot for a while. He needed to learn his lesson.
Little did Mackenzie know, her coldness towards James would have negative consequences. She would not see her adopted older brother for three years. But Mackenzie survived. It was what she knew.
That is until one day, The Grim was docked into town. She saw something enticing on the ship and Mackenzie went for it. Besides, how awesome would it be to steal from pirates? It wasn't that well guarded... But apparently Mackenzie's normally sound judgment failed her that day. She was caught. Mackenzie probably would have been in a whole lot of trouble if it weren't for a certain Australian on board...
Apparently James had become a pirate in the last three years she hadn't seen him. The two adopted siblings were reunited again and now have enough adventure to last them a life time.
Allegiance: Sea pirate? Air pirate? It doesn't matter to her as long as she's free and can have some adventure. (Although the RPer would like to stick her where Aussie is.)
RP Sample: Mackenzie was drawing.
But that was nothing new.
Ever since she had met Old Man Paul, nothing could ever pry her from a paintbrush again.
