(Hello, this is the guest, “can’t give out my real name,” from the Character Claims thread! I know this application is very fail, but I’ll be more than happy to fix anything that is missing or not done correctly!)
Name: Ludwig (If he needs a last name, tell me and I’ll get one.)
Country of Origin: Germany
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 165 lbs
Appearance:
Crew member of: The Imperial Eagle
Status: First Mate
Pet: N/A
Crest: N/A
Personality:
At first glance, most people find Ludwig unapproachable and downright scary. They see him as the most perfect example of a stoic and sometimes wonder if he even has emotions. But that’s only because they don’t know the whole story.
It’s true that Ludwig is something of an introvert. He relishes the few moments he has to himself and can often be seen hidden away in a corner with only a book or a map for company. And, honestly, he never had a problem with it. He was always comfortable with himself and who he is, and he doesn’t really care what others think of him.
But that isn’t his only side. With the proper coaxing and lots of beer, it’s possible to bring out Ludwig’s wild side. But he tries not to slip up in that respect too often. After all, he would rather be in control of his own actions, thank you. However, he doesn’t always require alcohol to have fun, considering that his idea of fun is not getting completely drunk and vandalizing anything in the immediate vicinity.
Ludwig always seeks to perform to his full potential, so he always does his job, and does it well. His tendencies as a perfectionist are also applied to other aspects of his life, sometimes to a fault. He always tries to “protect the order,” which often leads to others fearing him when he does.
He is also very protective of those he cares about. If anyone even thinks of hurting someone under his care, well, let’s just say he has the muscle power to back up any threats he might make. He tries to avoid unnecessary conflict, but he will not allow harm to come to the people he loves.
The ‘people he loves.’ They’re the only thing holding back the loneliness from Ludwig. After all, who wouldn’t become lonely if feared unnecessarily, as Ludwig often is? Still, even with those few he truly cares for, he always felt as though there was a hole in his heart, a hole that a certain Italian is now more than willing to fill. And, although Ludwig may seem annoyed by Feliciano and his displays of affection, he isn’t. It’s just that it’s easy to embarrass him with such intimate gestures. But he does truly like spending time with Feliciano, because he’s a good person, and he cares. So Ludwig cares, too.
History:
Maybe he was someone else before he was a nation, but he doesn’t remember. Did he even have a life before his nationhood? He doesn’t know. He doesn’t care. It doesn’t matter. He may have had a past, but it was lost when his life as a nation began.
In his first memory, Ludwig was eight years old, and his father was taking him home. Or, at least, the man said he was Ludwig’s father. Now that Ludwig is older, he has his doubts. There’s no way to prove it; the man’s dead now and Ludwig’s past is hidden behind a blanket of fog.
When his so-called father died of an illness, Ludwig was all alone. He knew full well that he was a nation and that no human would want to take him in. But he eventually began to meet others he could tell were not exactly human. Only later did he discover that they were nations like him.
Ultimately, he was taken in by the crew of the (*name added once he’s in a crew*), and he remains there to this very day.
Ludwig sometimes wonders about aging. If he is a nation, does he still age like a human? Can he die like a human? Will he be reborn again if he does die? But he hides such philosophical questions away. He’s a pirate after all, and whatever he cannot plan for or understand, he tries not to think about…
