"Ahah, that's kinda weird, right?"
Thiago grinned and held the other man's hand, shaking it for a moment, also unaware that they were being observed all the time.
"Ah, nice to meet you, Afonso. I'm Thiago."

So far, everything seemed okay. The dark haired Spaniard slowly lowered his pistol, setting it down beside him, and leaning back. He looked to his first mate with a small smile. "Mmm...probably just a native, or something. Just...erm, a less threatening one than one from the last place."

Suspicious as always, Lovi didn't relax when his Boss did... well, maybe the part of him that was worried that the Spaniard would go bat-fuck crazy again calmed down a bit... But he still didn't trust the new person.
For all he knew, he could be an... an assassin from the Mafia that followed them all the way to Brazil! There was just no trusting people - and as much as he'd started to trust Afonso, he didn't think a head injury would help when it came to judging people.

"It's nice to meet you too Thiago." It was such a strange sense of familiarity. But Afonso did his best to push it aside as he took a seat next to the Brazilian. After all, he was getting pretty use to just ignoring the deja vu. Instead he continued to smile, trying to think up a conversation of sorts. Maybe if they kept talking he would figure out why everything was so familiar. "So, did you just stumble across this beach like my friends and I?"

"Ah, yeah."
Just then the Brazilian noticed that there were another few people in the beach. He blinked, looking at them for a moment, before returning his attention to Afonso.
"I was walking around here and when I saw that there was a beach near, I really couldn't resist coming here."
He explained, smiling again.

"Mmm, the water is beautiful. It's why we stopped here." He looked from the Brazilian before out at the water. Idly he shifted, wiggling his bare toes into the warm sand. So from the sound of it, Thiago wasn't from around here. Quietly he tugged the ribbon out of his hair, fiddling to fix his ponytail. Such a nervous habit he couldn't break. "So where are you from, if you don't mind me asking."

"Ah, no, no I don't mind you asking. I'm from a town a few miles away from here. It's pretty far away from where we are now."
The Brazilian answered and turned his head to the sea's direction, to admire it. Then, after a short moment, he turned his face back to the other man, to look at him.
"And you and your friends aren't from here, are you?"

A small, bemused smile formed across his lips. He nodded a bit, looking out towards the ocean. "No, everyone's from all over actually..."
After all, most of the crew had been obtained from different ports. Glancing back at the Brazilian he thought for a moment, before continuing with a shrug. "We travel around a lot. This is the first real break we've taken in a while."

"Ah, that sounds cool. Knowing people from all over and traveling with them, I mean."
Thiago said as he lay down on the sand. Maybe it would be a pain to get the sand off of his clothes later, but he didn't really pay attention to it.
"...I'm also traveling, but I'm doing it alone."

"It's an adventure alright. There's never a dull day." Especially when you had people like Lovino and Maria aboard. Not a day went by without yelling, that was a definite. He glanced at Thiago, raising a curious eyebrow.
"Alone? What about your family?"

"Ah... My family."
The Brazilian's smile suddenly turned sad and he let out a soft, quiet sigh. It was something that he maybe regretted, leaving his family behind like that.
"I left them, just after turning eighteen. I was trying to find something, but I couldn't find it where I lived... So I decided to leave to search for it and they... simply let me go."

He frowned slightly, wishing that he hadn't asked. He was just about to apologize when the Brazilian continued. And he couldn't help but cock his head to one side. So he was searching for something as well? Afonso had to wonder what, but decided that would be prying.
"At least you left home on good terms?" He had just left home, leaving just a note behind.

"Well, yeah. I guess so. My parents weren't really happy to let me go, but they... just did."
Thiago looked away, to the sky, and sighed. He remembered that his parents didn't even ask him to stay. Probably not because they didn't care, but because they already knew there was no use asking.

"I suppose you haven't found what you were looking for yet, hm?" From the way he sounded, Afonso was sure that had he found what he was looking for he might very well return home. Or at least it was an assumption.
He glanced at the boy, before looking ahead at the water. Thiago's reasons for traveling sounded so similar to his own. He was still searching, still unable to find any answers. Only more questions.
"I'm searching for something as well... Haven't had any luck I'm afraid."

"Yeah... I haven't had any luck until now, either. But there's no reason to lose my hopes, since I just started traveling."
Thiago said, turning his head to look at the older man. He then smiled and looked away again, to the sea.
"Como se diz lá na minha terra natal, a esperança é sempre a última que morre."
(Translation:'Like people used to say in my hometown, hope is always the last one to die.')
