Yao sighed.
It's been a long time since he was in China. Ever since he became a pirate, he never really came back to Asia, and not once did he come back to China. Too many painful memories awaited for Yao in his return.
He knew one thing for sure, he would not return to his village until he found all his siblings and brought them back home safe and sound.
Currently, Yao sat on a dock of the Macau port. As much as he protested to his captain of docking at Macau, Ivan didn't listen to him. And Yao knew deep down, they had to. They were running low on supplies, so they needed to restock, and Macau of the closest port.
None of Yao's fellow crewman were in sight; it appeared they went to take in the scenery. This wasn't anything new to Yao. He's been to Macau plenty of times... with his siblings.
Not wanting to explore Macau and relive any memories, Yao decided to stay on the dock, and not move except for getting back on the ship when it was time to set sail.
Yao had a feeling this rest stop was going to be a long one.

He'd run as far and as fast as he could - which admittedly wasn't very much either way as injured as he was - but he'd almost... almost... made it to the docks... he could escape...
His legs collapses, inches away from leaving the alleyway. Biting down a sob as his beaten body hit the pavement, he reached forward as if dragging himself by his hands would get him there. He could make it... he was nearly free...
His vision began to fade as someone came up to him. But who...?

Yao could hear running behind him. But then he heard the fast paces slow down, until he heard a loud thump. And as soon as he did, Yao turned around immediately.
He could see someone lying on the floor. Yao wasn't sure if he was conscious or not. Hell, he wasn't sure if he was alive or not. If he was, then Yao had to do something about it. He couldn't very well leave someone lying in the middle of the road left to die. If his siblings were ever in this predicament, he would hope someone would help them.
So Yao did what any other reasonable person would do, try to help the person back to their feet until fit again. He approached the man, and saw his eyes shut just as he got there and proceeded to check his vitals.
He's alive Yao thought. Making sure not to agitate any injuries this man obviously had any further, Yao carefully picked him up and carried him back to the inn he was staying at. There was no way his captain would approve taking in a random stranger onto their ship.

Cái woke what felt like hours later, every inch of him aching and scratchy. Cracking open his eyes - or rather eye as one wouldn't open - he looked around as best he could with half his vision and not moving his head. It was... a room in an inn...? How did he get there...?
For that matter... how the hell did he get hurt? Everything was rather vague... he groaned the slightest bit, setting his throat on fire.

"Ah, you're up, aru" Yao said when he heard the boy groan as he reentered the room. He had a bowl of water in one hand and a medium sized towel slung over his shoulder. "I tended your wounds while you were sleeping, so you shouldn't get any infections, aru."
Yao grabbed a chair with his available hand and brought it over next to the bed, and placed it down, along with the bowl of water on the night table. He folded the towel on his shoulder into a nice rectangle, small enough to fit into the bowl, and rung it out a bit, and then placed it on the boy's head.
"You have a slight fever, so I wouldn't be moving around too much, aru," Yao said.

Of course, the moment that the other man said 'don't move', Cái instantly moved to sit up, despite the burning pains and the exhaustion. "W-who are you?!? Where am I?!?!" he panicked dreading going back...
.....
....going back where? He was afraid of going back, but he didn't remember about where 'back' was. It was so horribly confusing.

Yao watched as the boy in front of him shot up from the bed, and the towel he just placed on his head, went flying to the other end of the bed.
"Calm down," Yao said, in a soothing tone. A tone only an older brother used to dealing with sick siblings all the time, would know. "My name is Yao, and you're in my room at the closest inn to the port. You passed out by the docks, so I took you here."
Yao reached over for the towel again, and re-dampened it a bit. He slowly pushed the boy back down to lay flat on the bed, and repositioned the towel. "I don't know what trouble you were in to get this injured, but you're safe here."

Cái was suddenly hit with a wash of relief sadness, giddiness and anger, all of which together caused him to - off all the confusing things- laugh hysterically until he cried. He wished he could remember exactly how he'd been hurt and why it had happened because the mix of emotions it was forcing on him was making him really crazy.
"Oh god..." he sniffed, trying to wipe at his eyes with one bandage wrapped wrist. "Oh fuck it all..." all he knew was that he needed to get on a ship and get out of here and fast.

Yao looked at the boy curiously. He wasn't sure what exactly to make of the situation. From what Yao could tell it looked like he got in a pretty bad fight, or at least something along those lines.
"Can you remember what happened before passing out?" Yao asked. As soon as he got better, Yao decided he would help him find his way back home, or someplace safe for him to live.
There really was no other way. It's not like he could take a young boy away from a normal life and onto a pirate ship. If Yao had another way to find his siblings, he would not be a pirate, so if he didn't want this upon himself, there is no way he could take it upon such a young boy.
Yao glanced over at the boy again. The reason most of all that he couldn't just up and take this boy was because he couldn't bring himself to do it since he looked like he was about his younger brother, Hong Kong's age. Imaging his little brother, a pirate, it scared him. And not a life his little brother deserved.

He shook his head as he sniffed, trying to get himself back under control, even though it wasn't working. "N...no... I don't remember a thing!" He wanted to curl up in a ball and hide from the world but whatever had happened to him made him unable to do that. "All... all I know is I really need to get out of here... I was t-trying to get on a ship b-before I passed out..."

Yao nodded his head, "Do you at least remember your name, aru?"
Yao was only certain about one thing. Where ever this young boy came from, he was not happy there, so unhappy, by the sounds of it that he ran away from where ever he had come from, which meant he had no place to go. If he ran away from home, then he had no good home to go back to, leaving him out in the streets, if he was with someone like a kidnapper or slave holder, than he had the possibility of returning to a good home. But there was too many unknown factors for Yao to really make a good decision on what to do with the boy.
He really didn't want to take him back to the pirate ship. It wasn't a life anyone should want or deserve. But when Yao looked at the boy, even all bandaged up, he could see the boy who looked like he was severely beaten. He has no place to go, no one to look after him and he was all alone.
What's worse, living all alone with no one to take care of you, and fending for yourself, or living on a pirate ship where someone could take care of you?
Yao looked at the boy once again. He did say he was escaping to a ship. A ship to get away from whatever torture he was going through, and possibly to a place he called home. If the possibility of a better life rested on him getting on a ship. How could Yao possibly stop him from getting on one?

Gaining better control of himself, he looked up at the other with bloodshot eyes, fresh from tears. "M.. my name?" he paused and thought hard. He remembered... being called Macau a long time ago - but that couldn't be true, because wasn't the nation he was in called that? Thinking harder, he finally hit upon a memory - vague and distant, of a man and a woman who loved him very much, calling him -
"Cái... Cái Matheus Chaves." he sniffed, running an aching hand through his grimy hair.

[God my posts are obnoxiously long.]
"Hmm... well Cái, be sure to rest up, aru," Yao said. "For now I'll be looking after you. That is, until we can find someone better to look after you."
Yao mutely decided he would not tell Cái of him being a pirate. That would either freak him out so much that he wouldn't trust him, or jump on ship. Yao leaned heavy in favor of the latter.
After all besides his name, it seems like he remembered nothing about himself. If a person only had one memory to cling onto it was only natural he would take that as a chance to seize the opportunity with no doubts and no looking back. After all when you have nothing but one memory to go on, you have nothing to loose since you lost it all already.
Yao frowned at the thought. Someone as young as Cái should be going through what he was right at that moment. It was a very pessimistic way to look at the world, and for someone so young, he shouldn't look at things with such negative view.
Besides being young, Yao knew there was something deep inside that irked him about little Cái's whole situation. Whenever he looked at Cái, he felt something deep inside cry. He felt pain for the boy far beyond a little boy he just so happened to come upon. Something more like as if Cái was one of his younger brothers, who he loved so much.
But Yao pushed those thoughts to the side for now. He knew what mattered most at that moment was Cái getting better.
Yao looked at Cái once again, and he knew he was probably going to regret this decision, but after Cái got better and it seemed appropriate, Yao would decide he would give more thought into possibly telling Cái that he is a pirate.

The sudden generosity would normally have made him suspicious (or at least... it felt as if it would have), but this man who seemed familiar he couldn't help but trust. And, damn it all, he wanted to know WHY he trusted him - after all, he'd just met the man, even if he did save him and take care of him.
"...why are you offering?" he asked, unable to stay silent.(tis ok china. it makes up for the fact that my posts are short xD;;

Cái was skeptical. Not that Yao blamed him. Normally a stranger wouldn't do this much to help anyone they don't know. But the truth was, Yao wasn't exactly sure why he wanted to help Cái so much either. But something about it just seemed right. Not only right, but he felt compelled to do it, like as if there was an invisible bond between the two of them, which Yao realized was silly since he only met the boy what was what, Five hours ago?
"I'm not sure, aru," Yao replied truthfully. "I could say you kind of remind me of my siblings, aru. But that wouldn't be exactly right. You're not like them. I just have this nagging feeling inside to help you, aru."
