Appearance: If you could sum up what Aric looks like in one word it would probably be “intimidating”. Standing at a fairly impressive height, and sporting a body still well toned in muscle, he looks like nothing less than a noble warrior. Choosing tradition over fashion, he is most often seen wearing an outfit that is rather dated. At times he can be convinced to dress “properly” for the time period, but he doesn’t always feel comfortable in modern clothes. If he isn’t in armor he’s in something still rather dated. To be quite honest, he will openly admit he dislikes modern clothing, and doesn’t mind standing out if it means being comfortable.
He has blonde hair and relatively pale skin with piercing blue-green eyes. His hair is quite long, and has two small braids on either side of his head, and the rest is kept fairly well groomed. In some way he can be described as being “incredibly handsome”. It should be noted that he has been known to carry around a large sword, which could possibly be a Zweihaender

Personality: A true warrior to the bitter end, he is usually quite composed. His facial expression is almost constantly one of military seriousness, although that doesn’t mean he never smiles. He has his moments.
In some ways, Aric shares quite a bit in common with his son, Ludwig. He is a battle-hardened warrior, who hasn’t fully adapted to a much easier lifestyle really. Most of the time he is quite serious, and seems to lack a sense of humor, but those who know him well know that this isn’t wholly true. He is known to be incredibly loyal to those he cares for, although with the exception of his children and perhaps to an extent, Rome, he doesn’t seem to show when he cares. He doesn’t seem to mind that people consider him harsh and emotionless, and he stands by the thought that it is better to be feared than loved…most of the time anyways.
He would go to great lengths for his children, even if inwardly he disapproves of many of their actions. He will never make his distaste for the things many of his children have done, reminding himself that he was the same way once upon a time. He sees quite a bit of himself in all his children, from a quick temper (which has since mellowed in age) to his former arrogance. While he’s put these things behind him, his children serve as a constant reminder of who he once was, and how much he’s changed.
He still retains his intelligence and eye for tactics and of course, his natural strength. He also still seems to believe in “smash first, ask questions later” on many occasions.
He seems to have a sentimental attachment to several items he carries with him. Namely his armor and sword, which he becomes incredibly protective of when people get near them (when he’s not wearing/using them). He also carries around an old compass and an owl carved out of onyx, which he provides no real reason for, but acts as protectively of them as he does his armor and sword.
Aric is motivated by a desire to find and reconnect with his family and Rome, perhaps hoping to make sense of his situation. He isn’t aware that they may not remember him at this time.
History: He believes that his childhood and what happened in it are relatively unimportant, as they no longer mattered once his memories came back. In his early twenties his memories began to slowly come back, starting out with little snippets of memories, mostly of places. It took some time for all the memories of who he once was to fully come back to him, but once they did he was struck with a case of serious confusion.
He felt somewhat like an orphan, initially unable to come to terms that not only were the people who raised him not his real family, but also that he was supposedly someone who had been dead for centuries. It would take another long while for him to fully get over the initial shock, but once he did he began to make plans.
Eventually he settled for traveling, trying to make sense of many things. He began to figure that he had to do three things in order to hopefully begin to understand things:
1. Find his things. He felt out of place without his sword and armor.
2. Find Rome.
3. Find his family once more.
And thus, he’s set out to travel the earth, hoping to find his family and friends again (now that’s he’s back with his sword and armor).
Allegiance: He’s not picky, although his hunt for his family and Rome may drive him to a crew where he can be with them.
How They Died: This wasn’t how it was supposed to happen. He was supposed to die in battle against some impossible enemy. He was supposed to go down fighting. Yet here he was, a bitter old soldier, unable to fight anymore. Somehow Aric just knew, he was dying, he could just feel it in his core. It was inevitable, he knew one day he would have to pass, but he hadn’t expected it so…soon. It seemed too early for him to be leaving this earth.
All the same…it was indeed his time. A low sigh escaped his lips as he moved across the room. He took a sheet of paper writing down a final message to his children. He told them not to worry about him, and that he loved them. He told them not to fight, to be good children, to respect each other. He didn’t want their happy family to fall apart. With a shaking hand he signed it and set it down on the table, knowing they’d find it. He couldn’t tell them in person, he didn’t want to have to see his children cry.
Then he turned and headed out the door. He carried himself with pride, dressed in full armor with his sword at his side, the black owl charm around his neck. He was ready to walk into oblivion, but first, there was someone else he had to say good bye too. Carefully Aric made the journey up through the wooded hill, all the way to the top, to a place his children wouldn’t find him. At the very top he came across the boulder, on top of which sat a wolf’s skull, untouched by the wilderness, as if out of respect. Even nature knew where kings were buried perhaps, and left the greatest of all alone, letting them rest in peace.
A sad sort of smile crossed his face as he looked at it, sitting himself down to lean against the rock. “Well old friend…it looks like it’s finally my time to join you…” With that he closed his eyes quietly, letting the silence take over the forest once more. He breathed out calmly, waiting for the eternal sleep to take him.
