Lost (Eduard Intro.)

"Ei, I'm lost.. You would think three years in a city would be enough to remember how to get around, jaa?" Eduard muttered to himself confusedly. Looking up he saw the sign to the sky port. "What the heck!? I'm so lost..." He kept muttering to himself. His leather satchel slung casually around his shoulder clanged and banged as his constant spinning had loosened the tools held within. "What is going on here? I'm lost, and now my tools..." Eduard released a frustrated sigh as he found a bench to sit upon. He began to mercilessly shuffle through the satchel to organize it. Lost, frustrated and lost... Great. The Estonian though. His glasses began to fall and he rapidly fixed them with a quick hand. His brown gatsby sat upon his head motionlessly despite the frantic movements his hands made inside the leather satchel.

He knew where he was going... Clearly though fate had a different route for him. Eduard's venture was meant to go to the university in the center of town. However somehow he ended up on the northern end of town. The Estonian finally finished fixing his bag. Remembering where he was suddenly...

"I'm in a skyport and I'm not looking around? What am i, a fool? I think not!"He got up and began to look around, awe struck by the massive ships that were anchored to heavy pieces of machinery. "So, the anchors are set in here and then these gears interlock, and spin pulling the airships in closer for a safer, and more secure landing. Minimizing the damage from potential catastrophic events.... Interesting, and ingenious, if say so myself."


"What a strapping young man..." A gruff voice whistled. Startling the small student. Slowly Estonia turned around to see the holder. a sky pirate?, he thought to himself. Quickly he scanned the stranger for signs of allegiance, but he held none, or Eduard couldn't see it. "What brings you so far from the university?" the pirate asked his voice purred like a tiger on the hunt.

"..." Estonia shivered uneasily, as he pulled a slowly pulled a large wrench from behind his back. Waiting for the pirate to come closer to him. He knew the only way he could get the upper hand was with a surprise, and a large wrench to the temple was plenty of surprise... Or atleast to the Estonian teen it was a surprise. Eduard also knew that he couldn't let himself be intimidated.

It was too late for being intimidated. Estonia was frozen in place. His mind was blank. His pulse raced, his skin was beyond pale. His fears realizing themselves before him. He tried to run,but his muscles weren't moving. He closed his eyes, and tears of fear began to run down his face. Dropping the wrench, it clanged loudly in the empty section of the port. Run!he kept saying to himself. "Oh, whats this?" The pirate stated as he picked up the wrench. "Were you going to attack me, little boy?" Eduard shook his head. "I think you were..." The pirate sneered as he looked at the frightened teen.

Slowly the pirate took out a large knife. "This here, her name is Bella... She likes to cut things." The pirate snorted. "She wants to cut you next." He whistled this time. The Estonian teen gulped... Making eye contact with the pirate on accident. "I can see the fear... Smell it practically." The pirate eyed him down with the relentless gaze of a predator... He wouldn't be stopped till he had his fill, or he was seriously harmed. Either way, he would be hungry again. Estonia, however is no hero. Despite the slack confidence he walked with, he, was just a kid in a world of adults.

Slowly the pirate had backed his prey into a corner. Smirking, he believed it was done, knew it was done. The teen was caught in his mind. The brown clad student was against a wall, and quivering, practically broken. He smiled maliciously as he picked up the student in his arms. "Let's go!" the pirate violently jerked. Ed weakly followed his captor as he was basically dragged through the port. The pirate began to whisper into the teen's ear, shooting up, Eduard began to shout, but he was hardly understandable through his sobbing.

"Shut it." The pirate threatened menacingly "or it will be worse." Quickly the Estonian was silenced, but still clearly crying... Caught like a mouse in a rat trap. Eduard was too scared to make a move. The student was so new to the world. His life revolved around learning, and books. What had he done to deserve this? "Look down, and don't look up till i say so..." The pirate commanded as they neared a group of people. Silent, and determined, the two walked through them, Estonia, hadn't made a squeak. The pirates knife was pointed into the young mans back... Poking him, reminding him of his fate should he disobey...

It was a brisk, windy morning in Tallinn—the kind of morning for business, for industry, for trade. The early day sun shone through an overcast sky, sparkling over the Gulf of Finland, and ships of all different breeds and banners bustled along the port, braving the sea’s mist in search of skill.

Toris observed the city from the top of the Metall Podsolnuh’s extended walkway, rubbing the arms of his green great-coat and blowing out small puffs of white air. It was a beautiful city, he thought, raising the brim of his leather hat to watch the sailors and merchants haggle and hustle around iron-anchors and gray walls of stone. There was a faint sense of distant nostalgia to the location, almost like a picture from a mantle piece, or the forgotten dream of a friend.

For the briefest of moments, Toris found himself looking south, considering the distance between Tallinn and Vilnius. Even if there was no chance that the school would accept him this late, the Lithuanian couldn’t help but feel his homeland call to him, a siren pull in the center of his spine, lining through his heart.

The Lithuanian happened to glance down, spotting the trailing scarf his first-mate below. He was gathering a number of men close by the base of the ship, delivering curt orders and probably organizing some sort of supply run. The Russian stopped, as though sensing the forest gaze, and even from this distance it was impossible for Toris to miss the flash of lavender. The brunet shivered, huddling his arms close, and the thoughts of escape swept out of him like a bucket of cold water as he averted his eyes.

Right, Ivan had expectations of him today. One of the ship’s engines was in danger of being compromised, and it was the “Captain’s” job to find someone with the ability to repair and fortify it. The taller blond had been quite clear, insistent even, that Toris would be the one to go into town to find one. Something about his “business charm”, though the brunet couldn’t help but wonder if it was some sort of test, a trap, or simply a consequence of being the Russian’s proxy. Maybe Ivan had old ghosts trailing around here he would rather avoid? It was Soviet Union territory, after all…

With a sigh, Toris gathers himself up, projecting a steadiness he was not entirely in the heart for and walking down to the docks, one hand tucked in his pocket and the other hanging loose at his side. He strode towards the workshops of men skilled in ship-repair, his walk purposeful and confident.

The brunet passed several clusters of people on his way, mostly sea-farers with their arms around working women, ribald and raucous as they exaggerated their tales of ocean escapades, or hawk-faced sky-sailors dodging around like grounded birds, still adjusting to the steady ground.

As he idly watched the people passing by, he was suddenly brushed aside by two men walking swiftly. Toris manages to catch himself from stumbling, turning to look over his shoulder and frown. That’s when he catches sight of the knife the man has to the younger’s back.

Toris’ eyes widened, alarm bells ringing. Then, his expression firmed, heat flowing in his ears as he abruptly changes course and quietly walks up to the two men. Not even thinking about whether he has a right to interfere, he grabs the taller man’s arm, tugging sharply back with surprising strength and speed, swiftly twisting the arm behind the pirate’s back and pinning his wrist between his shoulder-blades, causing the knife to fall with a clatter.

As the man gives a hiss of surprise and pain, the Lithuanian reaches up, taking the pirate’s shoulder in an iron grip and pulling him back. “I admit, I’m not familiar with the customs here,” Toris began softly, shifting the arm up when the pirate tries to twist and look at him. “But I’m fairly certain that is not the proper way to show someone around.”

Avoiding his captive's attempts to grapple back with his free hand, Toris glances past the now cursing man to the boy on the other side, eyebrows drawn up. “Are you alright?” He hoped that the boy spoke English, at least.

Eduard looked up at the man who was holding the pedo-pirate. "Ja... Ja..." He replied in his native tongue, but rapidly amended his speech by replying in English. "Yes... I'm fine thank you..." the boy's voice trailed off as he tried to regain his bearings of reality. Quickly he reached around and did a check for all his equipment, and mentally checked off a list. Bag, hat, check, check, tools in the bag, check. Unsteadily he stood up as the man who had saved him easily held the pirate in place with a secure grapple. However he was still unsure of what to make of the situation, for he was still in shock.

Slowly everything began to comeback into focus. The fear, the sadness, the anger, the self-pity, it all came flooding back into crystal clear pools. The pirate had forced him into a corner... The knife... then the crowd... and now this man saves his life. So quickly... These events flashed in his mind like a film. He felt disoriented, and then suddenly the world swayed. Then it was back to normal. Slowly he stabilized himself again, and fixed his glasses, and adjusted his hat again.

Eduard made eye contact with the pirate, and then everything flooded back in his mind. Most vivid was his threat then suddenly... The world went black again, and rapidly flashed white. Ei, what's happening? Eduard thought to himself. Now he was falling, falling, falling. In his own tongue he softly spoke "Võibolla ma ei ole nii hästi..."

Toris frowned, firming his tentative hold on his struggling captive and watching the younger male waver, turning an unsettling gray color about the face. “Are you sure you’re al-” the Lithuanian started cautiously, only to jump as the teen collapsed at his feet. “Šūdas!” he cursed, causing the pirate in his grip to pause in his grappling.

“Leedu prügikast, ah?” he sneered in derisive Estonian, spitting. “Ma oleks pidanud teadma. Teie lahke kunagi võiks meeles oma äri.”

Now, Toris wasn’t an expert on Estonian, but he knew enough to recognize he was being insulted. His normally pleasant expression twisted in a snarl, and he jerked the pirate’s wrist up higher, making him rise on the tips of his toes as he began walking him to the edge of the pier.

“Sudie blogo šiukšliu,” he muttered deliberately, before abruptly releasing the brigand and forcefully pushing him out into the water. The man gave a sharp yell, before being cut off by the sudden splash of low tide.

Toris cringed, for a moment wondering if the other had been injured, before recollecting what the pirate had clearly been planning on doing. Washing his hands of the matter, the brunet huffed slightly, lifting his hat to tuck back his bangs, firmly re-affixing it before turning back to the street. He walked back to where the other teen lay unconscious, crouching down at his side with a concerned expression.

“Ah, t-tere?” he attempted, lifting a hand to shake the blond’s shoulder. “Hello?”

In the white world he heard a voice speaking to him. He recognized the Estonian, but it was shaky, unsure... Not a native speaker. Suddenly the white world began to change as he felt himself being shaken. The white cloud like dream vanished and his mind fell for what felt like an eternity.

He opened his eyes... To find his saviors face hovering above him. Slowly he blinked his eyes. Eduard remembered the situation again, but he felt oddly at ease now. Not panicky, or stressed, just safe. Cautiously the teen-ager leaned up. He didn't want to potentially faint again. Looking up at his rescuer his eyes began to tear up... He held them back. "I-" the blonde stopped. "Thanks." he continued bluntly trying to keep his emotions under check. Inside he wanted to squeeze the life out of his rescuer to save him, but something told him that it wasn't advisable.

Unsteadily he stood up making sure he was unharmed in the process. When he stood up fully he dusted off his jacket, and pants. Picking up his hat, the teen fixed his hat so that it sat comfortably upon his head. However when he stood up he noticed that his vision was blurry. "My glasses, where did they go? Quickly as he was up, Ed was back down scrounging the floor till he felt the the round frames. Sitting upon his knees he put them on, but his vision didn't change. He put his hand down, and felt all the tiny shards next to him. Bowing he head he stood back up.

Then he pulled out another pair and confidently put them on. The world was clear again to the recent graduate. "Now that i can actually see you. I would like to thank you very much." He again held back the tears. When he looked at the man's face the Estonian felt that he had seen him somewhere before. The scholarly mind began to roll off people trying to match the face with a name, but nothing seemed to match. He quirked his eyebrow, and his eye twitched as he tried again. He could tell that he has seen him somewhere, but he gave up.

"I'm Eduard Von Bock. Nice to meet you, Sir?" He said oddly as he extended a thin but muscular hand.
