Perched casually on a chair with a book in hand, Arthur was nearly dozing, wrapped up in his long coat to keep the breeze from being too chilly. The fresh air was wonderful, the scenery was beautiful and he was taking full advantage of this chance to rest and relax. He needed it, but more importantly, his crew needed it.
He heard voices coming closer, one he registered as Lily's, the other he never heard before. Turning his head, he watched as a blond man, nearly identical to Lily herself headed back towards the Grim. Was this... was this the brother she'd been looking for? Stretching, he put down his book and got up, wandering towards them.
"Hullo there Lily - is this who I think it is?"

Vash let out something between a hum and a groan. He didn't want to meet these people, he hated meeting people. But Lily liked them, for whatever reason. And they were . . . nice. . . to her. Supposedly. He had yet to be convinced that it wasn't a total ruse to take advantage of a nice girl in a bad circumstance. Still, it was nice, he would admit to the walls of his mind, to have her thin hand in his own again. Because she was at an arm's length, he could protect her properly. (And in a roundabout way, it made him feel safer too.)
"I'm sure they were all very nice to you . . ." He grumbled sarcastically, scoffing to the side as she tugged him along to the outer edges of the field, the borderline of the local town. He wasn't terribly sure where she was leading him, but by the looks of it, it was to a messy-haired blond wrapped in a fine-tailored coat. 'Hm. Could probably sell well . . .' he thought absent-mindedly. Once close enough, Vash took a step ahead of Lily, making sure a stern face was on.
Vash openly sized the man up. Average height, bright green eyes, impressive eyebrows. He was dressed like many men of the sea. The Swiss crossed his arms. "And you would be . . . the captain?" he raised a brow.
"I'm Lily's brother -- her guardian. And I'd like to know why you took a young girl out to sea like that," Vash cut to the chase.

She nodded, smiling brightly when they stopped in front of the captain. However, she didn't have the chance to say another word, Vash already speaking up, cutting to the chase the moment he had confirmed Arthur was the captain. With a small, sheepish smile directed towards the captain, she remained by her brothers side. Smiling she squeezed his larger hand with her smaller one, peeking past her choppy bangs.
"Brother... I told you, I asked to join the crew." And she had refused to take no for an option.

It was certainly odd to have known Lily for so long now - quiet, sweet, innocent Lily - and then meet someone who looked incredibly similar to her be so... abrasive. Raising one eyebrow and snorting, he sent an annoyed look at the angry blond man. "You mean aside from helping her when she was lost, saving her from slavers and giving her a place to stay when she had no where else to go?" The annoyed look shifted into a full out glare. "And I honestly do not appreciate the implication that I would not take utmost care of my crew - especially a young lady like your sister."
