"Sorry," she looked down guiltily, idly toying with the bottom of her jacket with her free hand. It was getting later, and she trusted Arthur when he spoke about how dangerous the district could get. They should be going, her brother might be worrying. Did he even know that she had gone out? She had left a note but...
Quietly she glanced up, passed her blonde bangs to the white haired boy. He only seemed a few years older then her. And he just seemed so familiar... Chewing her lip she debated internally, before nodding to herself, taking a small step forward, calling out to the other. "Hello? Are you going to the docks as well?"
After all, Arthur did just say it would be getting dangerous... It wouldn't be fair to leave him alone... They could all go back together maybe? Maybe she could figure out how she knew him...

Baldur jumped when he heard a voice, it had to belong to the girl that he spotted along with the other man. He looked around to see if she could be talking to anyone else. But this eerie feeling, she had to be talking to him right.
With a sigh he walked up to the girl who had called out to him, he gave a slightly nervous glance at the man he didn't want any trouble.
"I am heading to the docks, why would you like to know?" He asked trying his best to mimic his brother's monotone like voice.

"Oh, well, Mr. Kirkland and I were also heading to the docks. And he just said how dangerous this district can get. You're here alone, aren't you?" She smiled a bit, tucking a loose strand of blonde hair behind her ear. He saw his nervous glance, debating something in her mind before acting on it. Giving a small, but proper, curtsy, she continued smiling, trying to show that there was nothing to worry about. "I'm Lili. Would you like to walk back to the docks with us?"

"I guess, if we're going the same way." Iceland answered, where has he heard Mr. Kirkland before? and all though he didn't know any Lili's. Oh that's right she had proper introduce herself so he should probably do the same.
"ah, my manner escaped me." He said giving a slight bow. "It's a pleasure to meet you Lili, I am Baldur."
Not that it would matter later on he supposed after all a brief meeting couldn't change anything....no he shouldn't think like that. He was little and scared before he met Storebror. With new people coming to his lands it was frightening. Celtic and Nordic until cold winters drove out one of them. Ah why was he thinking of such things now off all times?

He was so familiar, but she really couldn't place how. He gave her the same feeling that Arthur gave her. She knew them both from someplace, but where and how still remained a mystery. But she could figure that out, all in good time. Instead she continued smiling, readjusting her bag of groceries, holding it in front of her with both hands.
Turning her head, she smiled at Arthur, about to stay something when her entire body went rigid. A small squeak escaped the petite blonde before she swung her bag around, clocking a man who had decided to grope her rear in the head. Her face bright red as she stumbled away a step or two. Right into another one of the man who had been leering at (the rather oblivious) Lili for the entire conversation. If it was possible, her face flushed brighter as she dropped her bag, squeaking even louder then before.
It was then that all of Vash's self-defense lessons kicked in. Lili nearly flipping the man over her shoulder when he tried to push her dress up.

Arthur had been watching them converse warily - not just the hair on that boy seemed familiar... his entire face and stance were as well... - and just when he stepped forward to take them both to the docks - two men stepped between him and the two youngsters. He paid them not much mind at first and his attention was taken away to the men bothering Lili. But, as she quickly proved herself to be more than capable at taking care of herself - how in the world did a young lady of her stature manage to fling a grown man up over her shoulder? - he switched his attention to the two who had decided to pull knives on him.
"Oh dear." he paused, faking a foppish affectation - one hand coming to rest on his cheek and eyes wide. "Are you threatening me?" Their sneers and advances spoke loud and clear and the wide eyes on his face slipped into a fierce grin as the hand that wasn't near his face casually tensed at his side.
With the first swipe of a blade, Arthur hopped back, landing in a crouch. As both men sprinted forward, they both found themselves laying on the ground bleeding from equal stab wounds to the gut - and Arthur stood up, poinard that had been hidden in his boot glistening black in the fading light.
Returning his attentions to the other aggresors, he stepped forward, blade in hand casually flicking towards the men as the crowds around them screamed and fled in disorganization.
"Care to continue?"

Baldur watched the two, their movements where fast and accurate, he was surprised the girl had such strength. Still it didn't mean that he couldn't defend himself as well. He kept his hand firmly on a long dagger that he kept hidden withing the folds of his coat. He waited for the next move of the men, but with two down would they really charge?
He also ignored the screams and discord of the crowd as they ran away from them. Oh he was going to get yelled at for this he was sure.

Her heart was beating against her chest, Lili almost believing that it would burst out of her body. Trying to calm herself down, she stumbled away from the men who had been trying to grab her. Glancing at the others she opened her mouth to shout a warning to Arthur, but he didn't seem to need one. A hand covering her mouth when she saw the two attackers fall, bleeding. The crowd around them became chaos, the young girl nearly tumbling over by the people shoving to get away from them.

The men blocking his way paled so quickly that Arthur couldn't help but laugh - which sent them fleeing from him with the rest of the crowd. Looking at the chaos and suspecting that not only would there be police there soon, but that he would lose both Lily and the young man - was his name Baldur? - to the masses. With one quick stoop, he cleaned his blade quickly on the shirt of one of the dead men and slipped it back in his boot, making a mental note to clean it properly soon.
As he stood back up, his eyes caught on to the men who had run - and their many friends standing behind them. Pursing his lips, Arthur knew it was time to leave. With a sudden jump forward, he grabbed both Lily and the silver haired boy by an arm each, hurrying down to the docks.
"Quickly now! Before they catch us!"

"Wh-Where are we going!?" Her eyes widened as she stumbled to keep up with Arthur. Her bag of groceries lying forgotten on the city streets and she used her free hand to bundle her dress up, to keep herself from tripping over it. She looked back, feeling nausea when she realized those two men were dead. Though she knew she shouldn't. It wasn't the first time she had seen someone die. But even still.
Forcing the thoughts from her mind, she looked forward at Arthur, a feeling of guilt forming. Had he not chosen to help her, he wouldn't be in this mess... Her eyes trailed to Baldur, had she not spoken with him... He probably would be perfectly safe... They wouldn't be running if it wasn't for her.

Baldur didn't say much, as usual but he did give a noise of surprise when the man that had been accompanying Lily grabbed his arm and started running towards the docks. He kept easy thankfully and only stumbled at first.
After all he wasn't expecting the sudden retreat. He glanced over his shoulder every now and then to see if they were being chased or not but he couldn't see anyone for the time being.

Arthur muscled his way through the crowds, pushing as well as he could without his hands. He didn't bother to spare a glance over his shoulder to see if their pursuers were gaining on them - or even chasing them still. That would involve slowing down, and he wasn't going to waste that sort of time. Finally though, they managed to burst from the crowd and he nearly tumbled as he slipped on the docks, but managing to stay on his feet and move. "This way!" he called back, still not sparing a glance. "My ship is just a little further." And he had no idea how his crew would react.
She just barely caught herself when they had burst out of the crowd, Lily nearly clinging to Arthur's arm now. Not that she meant too. She herself couldn't help but look over her shoulder, and her stomach knotted seeing that they were indeed being pursued by others. Oh this was all her fault, all her fault. None of this would have happened had she kept to herself. If she hadn't have gotten lost. Raising her other arm she swiped at frustrated tears with her jackets sleeve. She felt useless, she couldn't do anything... What if they were caught? And Arthur and Baldur were hurt?
Baldur continued to move and he felt a little ease in his chest when their feet hit the deck. Still wether their prusures were still trailing them was another question. Still getting to a ship would be a good thing so Baldur kept the pace. He didn't know what ship would be the man's, since he didn't know the his name yet. As long as they got their soon and things died down he was sure everything will be fine. Hopefully.
Darting quickly since the crowds were less dense and also less panicked out here, away from the chaos, they made good time towards the Grim - standing proudly at dock, painted a startling black with green and silver accents. Even now, running for his life, his lips twitched up in a satisfied smile. Then he took in a deep breath as they came to the foot of the gangplank and slid to a stop, pushing the other two ahead of him. "ALL HANDS ON DECK!!!!!" he yelled up to his ship, demanding they jump to it in his best captain voice.
Stumbling slightly, Lily turned her head to look back at Arthur. Her eyes wide, fearful as to what was occuring. Guilty, still believing that this was all her fault. She wanted to say something, but her voice wouldn't work, so instead she looked up at the (somewhat) foreboarding ship, but wasted know time walking up up the gangplank and onto the deck. With an awkward shift, she saw the crew peeking out, eyes boring into her with curiosity. She really wished she had the ability to hide...
Quick onto the deck after Lily Baldur moved out of the way for the man to get on as well. He also stood at the ready, tense and his hand on his blade. Not only from the prusures but he didn't know if this was going to be a "recruit or die" scenario, it could have been all planned out. He looked around at the prusures, at the crew and planned his actions out for each scenario in his head. He didn't want things to get ugly and he'd rather go back to his brother's ship. Sure he'd be yelled at but at least he'd be at a place that felt like home.
James had taken a liking to sitting on top one of the masts when he had nothing to do, much to the chagrin of some of the other members of the crew. So when he heard the captain shout he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. Shielding his eyes from the sun, he saw Arthur boarding the ship, using his best captain voice that generally let them know there was a problem. He also couldn't help but blink, seeing two others with him, a blonde shelia and a white-haired bloke. Debating internally, he opted to climb down before even considering asking what the hell had happened.
Odin was messing around in the kitchen, digging for apples since no one wanted to hear his stories. Tragic really, how was he supposed to teach these sea rats anything if they didn't want to learn the past? He heard hurried footsteps up on the deck and his captain's voice. Grabbing a few apples he headed topside. Once he got up there he spotted a young girl and someone, he didn't think he'd see again. "Baldur?" He asked himself it couldn't be his youngest grandson could it? Ah he grew so much, he remembered raising him off until one of his other grandson's took him in. Oh it was nice to see him again! He wanted to run over and give the boy a hug, but he wanted to live and by the looks of it. If he did what he wanted, he'd be attacked.
By the time he reached the top of the gangplank, his crew had successfully amassed to his relief. He respected the fact that his crew was still as efficient as when they'd all first signed on. "Alright everyone, weapons at the ready - James, take the key to the weapons locker and pull out a few things, quickly now." he tossed a key from his pocket at the australian boy, turning his attention back to the crew. "Stand at the ready in case of attack!" he barked orders, guiding the two youngsters to stand near his cabin door and out of the way of hurrying crewmen before swiftly moving to the side of the ship, looking over to see if any of their pursuers decided to be brave enough to try and storm his ship. From the looks of it, they were hesitating, having probably hoped to catch them before they made it somewhere safe. Well good, he thought, smirking. Stay right there and we'll have ourselves some target practice.
She stayed closed to the wall, trying to stay out of the way entirely as others bustled around the deck. Wringing her hands together nervously, she glanced towards Baldur, opening her mouth to say something but when the words wouldn't come out, she opted to look down. Maybe things wouldn't end badly. After all, people weren't reckless enough to try and storm a ship, right? Right...
Baldur didn't like being pushed up near the Captain's cabin, he'd rather be in the mass and not trapped. It was something he never liked feeling. Really battle ready? Where these men that stupid to storm a ship? No matter he'd just stay quiet and wait for something to happen. After all there wasn't much he could do for the time being
"What the hell did you do?" But James had taken the key and gone off quickly, obeying the orders he'd recieved. When he returned he'd handed out a few of the guns, shouldering one himself and idly strolling over to where his captain stood. Peeking down he saw the man assembled, not being able to help himself from snorting. "You don't honestly think they'll try and attack a ship, d'you mate?"
Odin walked over to the captain, james and the two people, one being his grandson. "Really Captain I wasn't expecting this? Where in the world did you find these two?" HE ased not really saying that the boy was his grandson. He also went over to the two and offered them both an apple. "It'll make you feel better!" he said cheerfully
Arthur sent a cheerful grin back at James. "I almost hope they are stupid enough for that - I hate being attacked in the street for no real reason. Bloody pedophiles." he scoffed, offering the men below his ship a mocking two fingered salute. They shifted angrily, but didn't make to jump on the ship. Odin's question caught his ear. "Oh, well, I was just down in the town talking to young Lily there," he waved in Lily's direction. "When some of these mens friends decided it would be a good idea to try and grab her. Needless to say, I took offense to that..." he trailed off with a sigh as the men below shifted back into the crowd, leaving a few members visible. Looking towards Baldur and Lily, he grimaced. "Do either of you need desperately to be back on land any moment soon? It appears as if they're going to watch us and wait... it may be a good idea to hold off for a few hours until they get bored...
She took the apple, murmuring a small 'thank you' before returning her gaze to the floor. She listened to the others exchanging words, her stomach knotting worriedly. It was only when she and Baldur were once again addressed that she looked up. She shifted for a moment, looking at Arthur before back at the ground, shaking her head. No, no one would probably even notice she was gone. it wasn't like she did much on her ship other than run the occasional errand. She peeked up again, past her blonde fringe, beore down again. "I-I'm sorry... About all this..."
Baldur stared at the man that stood before him, taking in the way he looked and the way he acted. Why was he so familiar? And something told him that the reason this man had apples it was because he enjoyed them and he kept them around to eat. He tore his gaze away from the other to look at the Captain. "I have no reason to be on shore, my brother may being looking for me but I can find the ship after they leave..." he said but something told him that if he stayed with this man and the one that enjoyed apples something intresting would happen. He looked at the apple once again before taking it.
"Sheesh, and last week you yelled at me for gettin' into a fist fight. Here you are lookin' for a fight." He would neglect the fact the lecture had actually been because he had pick pocketed, which led to the fist fight, not the fight itself. Peering down at the hesistent men, he couldn't help but feel a grin tug at the corners of his lips. Casually resting the pistol against his shoulder, he glanced at the two the captain had brought with him, before back out. "Looks like we've got temporary guests, huh?"
Odin smiled when Baldur took the apple and turnedt to the captain. "What a true gentlemen Captain! but in all honesty I wasn't expecting this~" He said patting Baldur on the head. The young nation gave him a look, he knew who it was because he raised him, before turning to the captain. "So what shall we do to entertain our guests while we wait?" Odin asked curious he could teach the boy some magic, or what was left that Odin held but otherwise he'd cook. Nothing else to do right?
Giving his australian crewman a casual smack upside the head and a half-glare, he nodded as he turned his full attention back to Lily and Baldur. "Well then..." he trailed off for a moment before shaking his head. "Odin, take them both down and offer them a meal - we shant be rude to guests now will we?" he turned to the crew members, quickly appointing watches to keep an eye on the dock. And if worse came to worse, they could always leave and dock in a nearby port and give them a ride back to town.... or Arthur's personal preference of going down there and kicking the shit out of all of them. Except he didn't particularily want to get kicked out of town... Ah well, decisions made for later.
She felt so out of place, toying idly with the apple one of the men, Odin, had given her. Quietly she glanced back up, looking at all the others. She had to wonder just how long they would be on the ship, how long the other men would stake them out on the docks. Her stomach continued to knot itself tighter and tighter, Lily no longer feeling all that hungry. No, she felt rather nauseas at the moment. What an absolute mess...
Baldur looked at Odin and then back at the Captain, really being stuck with this guy? Something was really off with this man and he wasn't liking the idea of food for the moment but otherwise he didn't know what else he could do while he was trapped here. "Odin, sir please don't pet me like some animal.." He said moving to get away fromt he hand that was on his head
"What was that for!?" Rubbing his head he shot his captain a small glare, before peering over the side of the ship again. "Can't we just go and give 'em a good wallop?" Though he knew the answer to his question. Even if the captain wanted to fight (which James was pretty sure he did), they couldn't. They would probably get kicked out of town, and as this town was fairly good place to stock up on supplies... Well getting kicked out wasn't an option. Still, couldn't hurt to ask, right?
The ever present tears began to flow from Odin's eyes and he couldn't hold the secert any longer especially when his grandson spoke to him. Moving quickly he picked Baldur up into a big hug and cried. "Oh my Grandson! Shouldn't you have manners? Of course you called me sir but do you not remember who your own Grandfather is! It tares my heart in two!!" He cried almost crushed the poor nordic in his grasp before he grabbed Lily into a hug. "and my dear girl please do not be so sad! I'll make pie for you! That'll cheer you up am I right?" He said as he kept the two young ones in his arms.
With the young ones being taken care of and watches set, Arthur stretched with a sigh. "I'll catch up with you all in a moment." he said before opening his cabin door and shutting it behind him. Finally, a moment to get out of his costume and into some real clothes. Tossing aside the dark suit he stepped into his favorite black pants, knee high boots and long dark red coat. Decided to forgo the tricorn for once, he pulled his poinard out of its sheath and set about giving it a good cleaning.
Lily squeaked by being drawn into the sudden hug. Her face flushed slightly, and she blinked, feeling little tears prickle at her eyes. And she tried to say something, but only to have it be choked out by a tiny sob. And she hid her face in this kind mans shoulder, trying to keep herself under control, but not doing a very good job at it. "Bu-But this is, this is my fault!"
"G-grandfather? Now wait a-a minute!" Baldur said but he was easily taken to the kitchen along with Lily, for being a grandfather Odin was sure strong and in all honesty that familiarity was there but he was taken care of by his brother! he couldn't remember anyone before that...then he looked over to Lily. He didn't want her crying. "N-now now Lily, it's not your fault it's those perverts fault."
James nodded idly as he watched Odin take their two guests to the kitchens, while the captain went to go change no doubt. He himself remained where he was, eyeing the crowd. When he saw some of the pursurers glaring up at the ship, he couldn't help himself from flipping them off, and sticking his tongue out. Childish yes, but James had never claimed to be very mature.
"Baldur is right little one! Nothing is your fault if you did nothing! Now lets get some food! something warm to cheer you up!" Odin said as he let the two sit down before heading over to the kitchen to get started on something sweet and warm.
With his weapon properly cleaned, his face washed and clothes scrubbed when flecks of blood had stuck, Arthur took a moment to take a swig of his rum bottle, to wash away the dregs of his Noble face. He honestly wished that he never had to start re-learning how to be part of the nobility in the first place. The things he did for family, he thought wearily as the small bit of rum settled in his belly and, with a quick bend down to slip the poinard back in his boot as well as his pistol in his belt, he headed out of his cabin.
"But i-if I hadn't..." She sniffed, hiding her tearful face in her hands. She felt like a baby. But she couldn't help the tears. They wouldn't stop. The guilt was still knotting at her stomach, Lily pulling her knees into her chest the moment she had sad down, hiding her face in her knees. "An-And if I hadn't talked t-to you Baldur y-you wouldn't have gotten into this mess!"
"It's fine Lily, really just because you talked to us didn't mea that we couldn't in trouble as well. So it's not your fault." Baldur said watching his supposed Grandfather walk around and humming some nordic tune. "So stop worring about." Really he needed to comfort Lily after all it wasn't like they were hurt or anything. They just needed to hide out for a little bit
"Well that looks more like you then that stuffy suit." He shouted when he saw the captain leave his cabin. He was leaning against the ship railing, rolling his head back to look at the men. "Looks like their hidin'. Or they just ran away with their tails between their legs. Either or."
"Tada! Soup~ I know nothing to spetacular but it's a great but it warms the soul!" Odin said cheerfully as he handed the two little ones the bowls. "Now no more sad faces okay?" He said giving Lily a small pat on the head as he sat down onto a create and grabbing a wooden block. "If you don't cheer up then I'll have to make a bunny appear hm~?" he said smiling brightly.
Arthur joined James against the railing, eyes trailing over the docks and seeing nothing - the compliment going completely over his head. "If only men gave up that easily - we'd have considerably less trouble in our lives, wouldn't we?" he let out one mirthless laugh. "Ah well... we'll give it till morning... then I suppose I feel like tempting fate." his mood shifted quickly, restlessly, the need to do something driving him on.
"A-A bunny?" She lifted her head, sniffling when she accepted the bowl with a small 'thank you'. Wiping her eyes on her sleeves she took a small bite of the soup, feeling warmth spread through her. Baldur really was right. They weren't hurt, and worrying about whether or not they could be hurt was silly. Not that that stopped her worrying, really. Another small sniff, and she used the hand not holding the bowl to rub her eyes.
Baldur ate his soup quietly as he watched Odin with a curious look. He knew his brother could do magic, so...his Grandfather should be able to do so too right? He didn't know so he watched with mild intrest. The soup was good and it's taste was something was. "How far down the rabbit hole will you go to get that rabbit?" he asked before taking another sip of the soup.
"I'll keep my eyes on the deck," he replied, nodding his head in the dirrection of the docks. Keeping his pistol out he glanced at the other, still grinning regardless of the situation. "Life'd be borin' anyways, if people just gave up easily."
"Yes a rabbit! and not to far down the hole so no worries~ now watch the block!" Odin said with a goofty smile as he showed the block to the two adn then placed it inbetween his hands. One on top the other on bottom. He pressed down and the wood started disappearing until his palms where together. After wiggling his fingers and blowing on the first one he opened his hands and showed a small brown bunny with floppy ears. It sniffed the eldest nordic's hands before moving and looking around. "Tada~" he said proudly
"Yes, but think of all the treasure." Arthur smirked back as he headed towards the kitchens with a wave of his hand. Just as he started down the stairs, he felt... strange... like deja vu of some sort - a burning in his chest. With an expression of surprise on his face, he brought a hand to his chest, clutching at the red of the coat and wondering what the hell was going on.
Her teary eyes widened when she saw the bunny appeared. And then, they lit up in amazement. "H-How!?" She looked from Odin to the little bunny. Not being able to help but smile. It was so adorable.
"Magic, that's how he did it." Baldur said looking at the rabbit as Odin got up and gave the bunny to Lily. His grandfather smiled at all the intrest that Baldur had. After all Baldur had always like all the things his brother could do with magic. Maybe he could learn?
He had been intent to stay put, eyes on the crowd, but something caught his attention. From the corner of his eye he saw Arthur grip his chest, and his body reacted before his mind could catch up (he had a habit of doing that). In a moment he was by his captains side, hesistating before placing a hand on his shoulder. "H-Hey, you alright mate?"

Odin stood and walked over to Lily and handed her the small rabbit before looking at Baldur. "Of course! You should be able to do it as well~ after all your my Grandson!" Odin said happily with a big smile and tears beginning to fall from his eyes.
Arthur blinked as the burning ebbed off, leaving him with a faint tingly pain in his chest. With a suprised look on his face, he glanced up at James. "I... I don't quite know." his surprise look became more wondering. What the hell just happened?
She smiled at the rabbit, petting it quietly. Her tears had ebbed to a stop, though she still occasionaly rose her hand to wipe them away. Quietly, she looked between the two. Odin looked awfully young to be a Grandfather...
"I should know? Only Storebror knows magic out of the family." Baldur said looking at Odin but he was more then intrested i learning. "But I would love to learn!" he added and then quickly found himself in a hug by his grandfather who began to cry.
"You look kinda pale..." He frowned, his normal grin for once missing. A hand remained on the others shoulder, James half afraid his captain would keel over any second. He was half-prepared to suggest the captain go see a doctor. Until he remember one, it was Arthur and he was stubborn, and two they lacked on...
"I'm so glad! We can get started right away! what do you want to learn first? Feathers can are always easy to make or maybe we can start with elements!" Odin said squishing his grandson against him tears running down his face. "Oh! You two must be hungry still I'll make more soup!" He said as he set Baldur down and went over to the kitchen
Arthur shook his head, leaning part of his weight on James. "I... I should be fine. Perhaps its anemia..." even though he'd never been anemic before... "Help me down to the kitchen?"
"He seems very nice," she smiled, glancing at Baldur before returning her attention to the little bunny in her lap. Magic... She had actually seen someone perform magic. She couldn't help but feel a little jealous, though that was drowned out by the awe of witnessing it.
Baldur nodded and looked at the rabbit in Lily's lap. "It doesn't matter, anything would be nice to learn for the night." Baldur said after all he couldn't just jump ship to stay here. His Brother could teach him something right? He reached over and gave the small bunny a pat on it's head.
James opted to hold his tongue, just nodding as he helped the other down the stairs. Sure he had only been on the ship a month or so, but Arthur had never seemed anemic... It was something else clearly. But, he put his normal grin back on his face, waving to Odin and their two guests when they reached the kitchen. There was no need to worry everyone, especially since neither of them knew what had just happened.
"Ah! James, Captain! What can I make you two?" He said happily not wanting to say that his grandson agreed to learn magic after all they probably wouldn't believe him. He looked between his crew mate and captain. Something seemed up but he wasn't going to say anything.
"Just whatever your serving, Odin." Arthur offered a slightly shaky smile as he took a step away from James and made it to a chair by himself. He didn't want to worry any of the others by looking as if he were ready to collapse.
She nodded, smiling a little when the bunny sniffed at Baldur's hand. When the other two came back in, she tilted her head to the side. Arthur didn't look very good, even if he was trying to hide it. "Are you alright..?"
Baldur continued to pet the rabbit and looked at the other two, England did look a little shaky but that usually happened when one didn't get food right? So he should be alright. So he kept quiet and continued to play and pet the rabbit as Odin made another round of soup.
"Soup again?" James couldn't help his childish whine, taking a seat at the table. One look though from the captain and he shut his mouth. Something else caught his eyes anyway, the Australian blinking. "When did you get a rabbit mate?"
"It's only the second day! and if you want something else I'll make it!" Odin said finishing the soup for the Captain, and their two guests he left the last one near the stove just in case James didn't want it, but he did give the Aussie a teary eyes, different from the ones before, like why don't you want my soup?
A real grin wormed its way onto his face - which he managed to hide behind a spoonful of really good soup. He still had no reason to regret hiring his crew - and their dynamic got better every day. Then he heard James ask about the bunny and his smile faded as his eyes traveled down to Lily's lap. There was a rabbit... how in the...?
"Oh, Mr. Odin made it appear." She smiled innocently, continuing to pet the little creature in her lap. Her eyes were still a bit teary, but her mood overall seemed to have brightened, the guilt fading away. And she had to giggle a little at the exchange between the crew.
"Grandfather is good with his hands..." Baldur said as he ate the soup. Not only in magic but with cooking as well and he was really beginning to like this little adventure of his. Now hopefully his brother and the others wouldn't be to angry at him disappearing and getting to know another crew.
"Grandfather?" James looked up from his soup, confusion evident on his face. He looked between Odin and Baldur, before simply shrugging. Alright then, who'd have thought Odin was old enough to have a grandson. "And I guess your right Odin... 'least you cook better then the Captain." And he had to supress a shudder from the memory of the meals he had endured.
Odin began crying again with a smile on his face as he gave James the soup. "Good boy! and Baldur is my grandson isn't he the cutest? I'm so glad to meet him again! I wonder how the others are doing?" He said thought full as he put the used pot in the cleaning pile before sitting down. "Ah I'm getting to old to run around cooking so much!" He joked
"Shut up James." he muttered, eyes still riveted to the rabbit. "... how exactly did it come to be here?" he asked after a long pause, a part of him desperate to not know but a deeper, hidden part of him that he understood about the same amount as his dreams told him he wanted to know.
"Magic," she answered without any hesitation. Only a small bit of awe. She smiled again, looking down at the rabbit. It was so cute!
Baldur looked at James and Arthur and to see what their reaction to the word magic would be after all it was something that wasn't common to hear let alone see. He then turned to look at Odin who seemed to be falling asleep in his seat. Really he couldn't be that tired right? Odin wasn't that old.
"Magic? That's so cool! Odin I didn't..." He trailed off noticing the other appeared to be falling asleep. And with a snort he reached out, nudging his fellow crewman. "If you're fallin' asleep in your seat you should head to bed old man."
"I'm fine really, I just needed to sit down, and who said it was me?" the oldest nordic said with an innocent look as he was nudeged awake. Really these youngesters had no respect for a sleeping old dog. He stretched before going back into his relaxing state "And I've got to stay awake to keep you young ones from getting into trouble."
Magic. Magic? The explanation should have made no rational sense, but it seemed to fit so perfectly into his mind - suspicious and paranoid as it was. Did that mean Gurt was actually real and not some crazy he was hiding from the world? (Gurt is his flying green rabbit btw) The world seemed to shift into focus as if the world without magic hadn't made sense. He could feel his face pale and his hands - clenced around his soup bowl - began to shake. Paradigm shift indeed.
"Mr. Kirkland?" Her eyes widened taking note of his reaction. And automatically she had to wonder if she said something she shouldn't have. But... But all she had done was answer the question so... "Are you alright..?"
"Maybe he's tired, it's been an intresting afternoon" Baldur said looking at the captain, he looked a little worse then Odin did and hopefully some rest could cure him of what was ailing him. Now he got up and gathered the empty bowls ready to head off since the night was getting older.
Maybe you should head to bed mate?" As much as he tried to keep the worry out of his voice, he couldn't. Something was going on with his captain. And it was worrying him more and more. Maybe Odin would have a clue? He could probably ask the older man later.
"Ah but we're will the guest sleep? After all it's becoming the dead hours and it'll be dangerous to send them home." Odin said as he got up from his seat, ah bed sounded so good right now. He smiled he wanted to make sure they were comforable. Because even pirates had to be nice to their guests.
Arthur was snapped out of his daze enough to answer. "I was thinking of setting up a temporary bunk down here near the fire - I don't think it would be the best idea to put Lily in with the men." his brows furrowed in thought as he tried to remember why magic was so familiar.
"I'm sorry to be trouble..." The guilt returned, though not as strongly as before. She looked down again, idly stroking the rabbit's soft fur.
Baldur was about to object before Odin quickly grabbed him. "I'll sleep near grandfather so there won't be trouble." he said figuring his grandfather was being protective.
Nodding he stood up, stretching slightly. "Yeah... Probbaly not the best idea to leave the little sheila down there with all those blokes..." With a simple grin he headed towards the stairs, waving over his shoulder. "I'll keep my eyes on the docks. You all get some shut eye."
"Sounds like a good idea! Time for bed little ones!" Odin said as he headed off for the bunks, Baldur being dragged behind him. He'll be able to sing him a lullaby! or give him a spell to have good dreams! oh~! it was going to bring back memories!
"Then it's settled. Goodnight everyone." Arthur hoped he wasn't being too rude by leaving so abruptly, leaving his bowl on the table as he headed for his own room. He had a headache that only alcohol could drown out and a bed that called his name.
