Gilbert glance at her again, wanting to keep an eye on her now that she had his little buddy in her hands...although she seemed to be treating Gilbird well, and the chick was - as he had learned from past experience - a very good judge of character.
"I don't know, really," he admitted, looking toward the sky as he walked, still somehow managing to watch where he was walking.
"I might make a few more stops across Europe, since I'm still looking to flesh out my crew a bit..." here, he glanced at her again, but tried not to look to interested or hopeful. He wasn't sure it had worked. "I don't want to do too much stopping, but I think after a stop in Vienna, I'll be heading toward...hm, I dunno. Maybe Greece."
He grinned as he thought of the Grecian ruins, having never seen them in person, but secretly he had always wanted to some day. Now that he had his own ship - and while his way of obtaining it was a bit shady, admittedly - he could go anywhere he wanted, as long as he had a way of paying to resupply here and there.
"And I think a stop in Sky City is due, after that," he continued after a moment of reflection, grin widening. "As for whatever happens between Vienna and Sky City, I guess we'll just have to see."

Yekaterina's eyes glimmered, as she heard the other list off locations.
So many far off places... who knows, with her little sister's intellegence and determination, Natalia could very likely be anywhere around or above the world, with the lead she had over Katushya. Sky City, though, sounded particularly promising...
Either way, Katushya was certain that she was going to find her sister a lot faster if she traveled by sky ship. And, unless her eyes as well as ears fooled her, the young Kapitan's glance and mention of 'crew' had looked and sounded very much like an oppurtunity.
Yekaterina bowed her head, carefully cradling the small Gilbird in her palms as she stepped over some toppled garbage, before she looked up again. "Sounds as though you are planning lots of travel, Kapitan. I am hoping that you have reliable foodstores for trip?"
Katushya knew next to nil about sailing through clouds, having been earthbound for the majority of her life. Joining as a straight out crewman would most likely bungle, until she got skylegs. But, perhaps if she got a foothold in the kitchens, where she had developed some measure of skill...
After all, everyone needed to eat, yes?

Gilbert managed to look a little sheepish at the mention of food. True, he hadn't been eating very well on the ship, what with not having a cook and having no time to cook for himself. His foodstores were mostly full, waiting to be used; some of the food had probably gone bad by this time, as well. But with no time to cook on the ship, Gilbert had been making frequent stops on his search for crew members just to grab a bite to eat. Having a regular cook on board would probably be a good idea...
"Eheh...well, the foodstores are full, but I don't exactly have a cook at the moment..." he trailed off, glancing sideways at her again, gaze lingering a bit longer this time as Gilbert wondered if she could handle work on a pirate ship. She was obviously emotionally delicate, but with the way she handled that pickpocket, he was fairly confident that she could take on a couple of low-class crew members.
He tactfully decided to avoid the statement about lots of traveling; he didn't want to let a complete stranger in on his plot to find this treasure of all treasures and become disgustingly wealthy, after all.
They finally reached the end of the alleyway, the mouth of which opened up upon the seaside docks of Berlin and above them, the skyship docks. He saw his ship anchored to one of the docks, looking as majestic as ever, and grinned.
"Well, here are the docks," he said with a trailing note of finality. He turned toward the girl still holding his baby chick and grinned a little. "I'd invite you to come along with me, but..."
Here he trailed off again, glancing up at the ship, then to the toe of his boot, then back through the alley they had just come through.
"I dunno if you'd want to hang around with someone like me," he finally finished, grinning.

Yekaterina smiled softly, hearing about the vacant position. "Hm, that is unfortunate." Her intuition led her right! Now, all she had to do was convince the young Kapitan of her capability...
Hopefully, he wasn't put off by her crude handling of the street thief.
As the pair stepped out of the alleyway, Katushya's eyes were immediately drawn towards the many and various ships, both sea-side and airbourne. Her mouth opened quietly in wonder, as her head darted around, trying to capture in memory the sights and sounds of the bustling port.
One ship, in particular, a vast, magnificent frigate, bearing a black-eagle as its standard continuously drew the Ukrainian's attention. A single glance at the Kapitan, and somehow Katushya knew that the grand vessel was his. It couldn't have belonged to anyone else.
As the Kapitan addressed her, Yekaterina blinked, and glanced down at the chick in her hands. "Ah, well, you seem to be nice enough man. And, truly, not sure I have anywhere else to go." She looked up, unconciously wearing a rather pitiful expression, as she let out in a rush, "I need job, and I need ship. I'll be willing to earn my keeping. I am good with kitchen work, and rarely complain. If I need to be doing more, just give me order. Just... please..."
There it was, she thought, her offer. And, predictably, it ended with a sniffle.

Gilbert shied away a bit when the girl sniffled at him; he had never been very good with people crying, especially when those people were pretty, kind girls who didn't look like they could do anyone harm.
Then again, Gilbert knew she was capable of hurting a person. He had seen the way she handled the pickpocket, and the fact that he knew she could possibly hurt someone made her that little bit more intimidating. He looked down at the little yellow chick that was preening her feathers while sitting in the girls' palms, and sighed. Gilbird had spoken.
"I do need a cook," he admitted slowly, glancing up toward his ship and the Prussian flag blowing in the breeze.
"If you don't mind cooking and cleaning for a couple of questionable characters like myself," here, he paused and gave his best charming grin, "You're welcome aboard the Eagle alongside me and my crew."
He laughed a bit and looked at Gilbird, who was now drifting off to sleep with her head tucked under one tiny wing.
"Plus, Gilbird looks pretty comfortable," he grinned, then jerked his head toward the ship. "C'mon, you."
He turned and began taking long strides toward the docks, grinning a bit. He was excited to be getting back onto his ship and back into his air legs. The air was so much better than the ground.

Yekaterina held her breath, nibbling on the inside of her cheek, knees shaking in suspense. Upon hearing the other's answer, Katushya first blinked, and then beamed, a happy sound escaping her, as she straightened up, "Ah, spa-spasybo! Tak--tak, Kapitan! I will not be disappointing you!"
Yekaterina gladly strode after him, looking down at the slumbering bird in her hands with an exuberant smile, "O, ty prekrasna malo ptashka. Zavdyaky vam, ya budut' mozhu znayty moyu malen'ku sestru~!" She would have nuzzled the tiny thing, if it was not so soundly sleeping.
Looking up, Yekaterina felt her smile slip, a little, as the magnitude of what she was doing brought itself to her attention. She, who had never dreamt past a small plot of land, was about to sail through the sky. The idea was terrifying, in yet...
'Perhaps, after this, sestrychka will have reason to take her words back.' Katushya smiled, and followed the Kapitan aboard.
Spasybo = Thank You Tak--tak Kapitan = Aye--aye, Captain O, ty prekrasna malo ptashka. = Oh you beautiful little bird. Zavdyaky vam, ya budut' mozhu znayty moyu malen'ku sestru = Thanks to you, I will find my little sister Sestrychka = little sister
