Name: Im Yong Soo, da ze~
Country of Origin: South Korea. Uri nara mansae!
Gender Male, da ze~! How else could I be everyone's big brother?
Age: 24, da ze~
Height: 177 cm. |D I'm a tall Asian, da ze~
Weight: 157 lbs. Mostly muscle, da ze~ |D
Appearance:
Rather proud of his Asian heritage, Yong Soo will be the very first to point out his decidedly Korean features, in particular his impishly young face, bright brown eyes, and dark brown hair. He wears his hair short, parting it mostly to the left, but with long side-bangs and a signature fly-away curl.
Actually fairly muscular along with being rather tall, Yong Soo is as spry as a monkey and about as grabby. Never quite still, Yong Soo is as often above the ground as on it, hanging from rafters, netting, ropes, what have you. Almost always has a wide grin plastered across his face, even when he actually feels a bit sad, or annoyed—you can tell it’s serious when he stops smiling.
Clothes-wise, Yong Soo is rather given to the colors white and navy, often wearing shirts with very long white sleeves and a heavily padded dark-blue vest. In spite of the fact that his sleeves almost always cover his hands, he remains very deft at handling objects with them, and often conceals goods, though not often weapons in them.
He wears long white pants with pleats on the sides, and the rest of his legs are covered in weighted black bracers, white socks, and simple black rubber shoes with good grips. In a navy sash around his waist, he carries two fighting fans plainly in sight. Sometimes dons a bright blue bandana to seem more ‘piratey’.
For some reason he doesn’t quite understand, he secretly has a strange inclination towards women’s hanboks…
Crew member of: The Lucky Dragon, da ze~
Status: Captain, da ze~ILUYAOHYUNGNIM~!
Pet: I have a curl on my head I named Sang Ki. |D It makes faces~ =3= But, nah, nothing actually living, da ze~ |D
Crest: To be added.
Personality:
Yong Soo is a loud, boisterous, energetic young man, given to impulsive action over calculation. Growing up, he was always a bit of a wild child, and even into adult hood he carries that wide-eyed air of someone constantly discovering something. Often, this translates to a somewhat irritating habit of claiming to have seen something or done something first, even when it was clearly another’s handiwork.
More often smiling than not, Yong Soo is fairly often mistaken as a fool by those who don’t know him. But there is a very keen understanding and intellect hidden behind that grin, given to popping out at the most random of times. He has a strong ambition to gain ranks amongst the pirating world, not only because the phrase ‘overlord grand pirate king’ is really freaking cool, but because he has a deep-seated need to prove himself.
Above all things, Yong Soo values the bonds in his life, particularly to family. If you’re a stranger, he doesn’t feel any particular need to be polite, and indeed can seem rather pushy and obnoxious. Even once he accepts you, that may not seem to change much, on the surface, but a friend to Im Yong Soo is a friend for life, and he’ll fight to the end to prove it.
Because loyalty originated in Korea, y’know? |D
History:
Growing up in a small village, Im Yong Soo was without question the most eccentric of his generation. Always in trouble, he would often climb up into the trees and run across rooftops to escape punishment for petty misdemeanors such as stealing chickens from the Hondas, or completely dismantling a neighbor’s radio, or cutting holes in their laundry, or sneaking kimchi into the dogs’ food, or writing his signature in bright blue permanent marker over everyone’s stuff.
There was one person in particular he loved to torment—an older person who was like an adoptive brother. Yong Soo idolized this person, and frequently tried to grab their attention by either emulating them, or by physically tackling them, much to their and everyone else’s annoyance. Regardless, he was mostly tolerated, and that was enough.
One day, the village was attacked by a band of thieves. Yong Soo managed to avoid most of the commotion by hiding in a nearby forest, taking to the trees, but was forced to witness first-hand the capture and carnage of his childhood friends and neighbors.
He hid in the tree, huddling and frightened, and watched in horror as his big sister-figure Phuong was attacked by the bandits. When the coast was finally clear, he came down to help her, taking her somewhere safe and hiding the rest of the night, doing anything he could to try and ease her pain.
They returned in the morning to find most of their home had been destroyed. Asking around the few remaining survivors, they learnt that while most of their fellow children had been kidnapped, at least one, his adoptive ‘older brother’, had gone forth to find the thieves.
The two stayed in the village for a while, Yong Soo doing what he could to help repair the houses, and tending to Phuong to aid in her recovery. But he couldn't stay forever, feeling a deep sense of shame from his percieved cowardice that night. He left Phuong with the village doctor, promising to come back for her when she was well, and made a personal vow not to enter the village itself again until he could atone.
Firmly deciding to follow in his idol’s footsteps, Yong Soo ventured forth to the outside world, learning, among many things, the art of martial-street-fighting, but as for any hint of the band, or his friends, nothing. While traveling through Yeosu, he came across a family heirloom--a Korean turtle ship, called the Lucky Dragon. Naming himself Captain, the Asian man set forth to find out everything he could from this new channel.
Yong Soo caught wind of the legendary treasure, and endeavored from that point forth to find the treasure and become the ‘grand overlord pirate king’, so that he could both help his home village and find the rest of his ‘family’.
Allegiance: Libertalian Sea Captain, da ze~ |D
Did you read the rules? Who is a Beastie?: Who else but Cap’n Jack Sparrow, da ze~ |D Now, where’s the rum gone…?
